1st connference GOOD CONNECTION
SOCIAL SCIENCE AND DIVIDED COMMUNITIES

Zielona Góra (Poland), 16-17 May 2017

OBJECTIVES OF the CONFERENCE

The main objective of the conference is an attempt to establish the role of social sciences in a situation of growing divisions among different communities, organizations, groups. Strengthening the existing good connections and creation of the new ones nowadays is urgent and strongly needed. In recent years we have observed the rise of divisions, cracks and collisions on many levels – civilizational, cultural, political, religious, social and economic. Searching for an effective strategies for overcoming divisions and tensions becomes urgent task. That is why it is very important to maintain and to create programs and intercultural and interreligious dialogue, to discuss an importance of equal opportunities and social inclusion.

Therefore, we need to understand the phenomena better and to organize the knowledge about the processes. Finding the right descriptive language and adequate theoretical concepts is also the aim of the conference. An important task of our conference is looking for answers to the questions: How are we divided and how do we get divided? Why are we divided? What does unite us? How to break down the divisions? How do social sciences identify, describe and interpret the manifestations of divisions on the different levels of social life? Are descriptive, theoretical, revealing and practical functions of social sciences properly fulfilled?
